Every throw here is woven in our family's own mill in Ukraine and delivered free across the UK from our warehouse in Coventry. You can choose from four materials and three sizes: wool throws start at £49.90, cotton-blend throws at £27.90.

The short answer to "which one?": for softness, choose merino or the cashmere-merino blend (10% cashmere), the two fine wools in the range. For the most warmth, choose pure new wool, which is coarser and can feel scratchy on bare skin. For a throw you can wash at home, choose the cotton-blend.

Warmth and softness are scored on our own five-point scale. The wool throws are labelled do not wash: air them outdoors for a few hours, out of direct sun and rain, or have them dry cleaned. Merino has the widest choice, with about 30 colourways.

Throw or blanket: what's the difference?

In the UK, a throw is usually the smaller piece you keep on the sofa or lay across the foot of the bed, while a blanket is a bed layer big enough to cover the mattress. The two words overlap, and so do our throws: the same wool throw can wrap you up on the sofa in the evening and go over the duvet as a wool blanket at night.

What size for a sofa, a single or a double bed?

  • Sofa or armchair: 130 × 170 cm. The size for one person. For two sharing a sofa, go for 140 × 200 cm or larger.
  • Single bed: 140 × 200 cm, fringes included. UK single mattresses are usually 90 × 190 cm, so this size lies over the duvet with some left to hang over the sides.
  • Double bed: 150 × 215 cm. It covers the top of a standard 135 × 190 cm double mattress as an extra layer over the duvet. To lay a throw across the foot of a double bed instead, 130 × 170 or 140 × 200 cm is enough.

The 140 × 200 cm size comes in all four materials, 130 × 170 cm in merino and pure new wool, and 150 × 215 cm in merino only.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between a throw and a blanket?

A throw is usually smaller and made for the sofa or the foot of the bed, while a blanket is sized to cover a bed. Our 140 × 200 cm throws also work as a blanket on a single bed, and the 150 × 215 cm merino throw on a double.

What size throw for a double bed?

To cover the top of a standard 135 × 190 cm double mattress, choose the 150 × 215 cm merino throw. To lay a throw across the foot of the bed, 130 × 170 or 140 × 200 cm is enough.

Which wool throw is the warmest?

Pure new wool, with 5/5 for warmth on our own scale. It is coarser than merino, so if you want a throw that is also soft on the skin, merino and the cashmere-merino blend (10% cashmere) both score 4/5 for warmth.

Can you wash a wool throw?

Our wool throws are labelled do not wash: air them outdoors for a few hours, out of direct sun and rain, or have them dry cleaned. Our guide on how to wash a wool blanket explains the options, and the cotton-blend throws can be hand washed at 30 °C.

Is delivery free in the UK?

Yes, delivery across the UK is free from our warehouse in Coventry. You can return a throw within 30 days; the conditions are on our returns page.

What size throw do I need for a sofa?

For a two-seater, 130 × 170 cm covers your lap and legs; 140 × 200 cm drapes over the back or arm of a three-seater and doubles as a bed throw. Our throw size guide has the measurements for sofas and beds.
